Larkmoor

A cardiometabolic appointment combines a consultant review with testing at Wharfside: bloods, blood pressure over time, an ECG where useful, and other cardiac or respiratory testing when it is indicated.

The output is a plan you can actually follow — what to change, what to monitor, what to review and when — written down and shared with the GP who sees you the rest of the year.

Who it is for

  • Raised blood pressure, cholesterol or blood sugar
  • A family history of heart or metabolic disease
  • Review after an event or a change in medication
  • Anyone who wants risk explained in terms they can act on

What to expect

  1. Testing first

Bloods and cardiac testing at Wharfside, usually earlier the same day.

  2. Consultation

Forty-five minutes with results already available in the room.

  3. The plan

Written targets, a monitoring schedule and a review date.

  4. Between visits

Readings you take at home can be sent in before the next review.

How to prepare

  • Fast for the period given in your appointment letter where bloods are booked
  • Bring any home blood pressure readings from the last month
  • Bring current medication with doses, including anything recently stopped
  • Wear something that makes an ECG straightforward
